THESE TALENTS YOU CALL MINE ARE GOD-GIVEN

These talents you call mine are God-given
I claim to be the channel, nothing more
To make good their promise I have striven
As Life's ship has cast me upon Fate's shore
But worse agonies can be expected
What comes from taking credit for myself
A vainglorious life self-affected
Soon caves pridefully in upon itself
Far greater suffering could await me
If I should squander God's generous gift
For what kind of barren world would this be
If God's gifts the world's people failed to lift?
Please give credit where right credit is due
So this flow of God's gifts might continue.
