'ONE DAY I WOKE TO FIND MYSELF FAMOUS'

'One day I woke to find myself famous'
George Gordon, Lord Byron, did once proclaim
Childe Harold Pilgrimmage the impetus
Childe Harold and he being one and same
Though far greater verse he'd go on to write
Don Juan bested nowhere in literature
His biography with his pen would fight
As to which would cut the finer figure
His Lady Byron called him 'mad, bad, and
dangerous to know.' Who but she could say
A Great Romantic to make a husband?
We'd never have Lord Byron that way!
Only a life too scandalous for wives
Could give us the art that transcends our lives.
