Market Your Screenplay

A longer synopsis, one or two pages, might highlight the storyline of the project more clearly, for some readers, than a hurried review of the entire screenplay. To make it work . .

  • Include primary character names in ALL CAPS.

  • Design the text around the structural elements of a successful dramatic story, i.e., set-up, launch, story, climax, and resolution (making the synopsis a prose version of the Story Dynamics Worksheet).

  • Mimic the plot summaries provided by Hollywood story analysts (a.k.a. "readers") as part of their coverage of scripts they analyze/read (sample coverage).

Then get somebody to read it over and give you comments.
