A longer synopsis, one or two pages, might highlight the storyline of the project more clearly,
for some readers, than a hurried review of the entire screenplay. To make it work . .
- Include primary character names in ALL CAPS.
- Design the text around the structural elements of a successful dramatic story, i.e., set-up,
launch,
story, climax, and resolution (making the synopsis a prose version of the Story Dynamics
Worksheet).
- Mimic the plot summaries provided by Hollywood story analysts (a.k.a. "readers") as part of
their coverage of scripts they analyze/read (sample coverage).
